Taking a plunge

Sat May 27, 2006, 12:06 AM
First time submissions are nerve racking I have decided, though I imagine that is true always when a person takes a step to put themselves out there. I can't decide if I am more afraid that people I know will read them or people I don't know, and I can't decide if I am terrified that people will hate them or that people will like them.

I have been writing for a long time, and for a while it was something I shared. But school is a harsh training ground for children, and I learnt all too soon, or too late I suppose, that being the dreamy, imaginative, whismiscal, and at times just weird little girl isn't the way to stop bigger kids from picking on you. My imaginary friend, a small fairy that sat in my ear, took off for warmer climates at about the same age, and may have had something to do with the bigger kids picking on me in the first place. Being the little girl who walks around talking to herself and telling people there is a fairy in her ear didn't help I guess. So I stopped sharing my writing altogether unless I was forced to.

Slowly I found that now that I am older and don't talk to myself very much when other people can hear me, its ok to share sometimes. Like to close friends, and to my family. But if you want to know if you are any good at something, in the end you have to show it to people. Real people, not the kind of people who say something is beautiful just because they are your mother. So here I go.

Hmmm, that was personal.
Neuraliser...If you would look right here please... *FLASH*... Alright, folks, thank you for participating in this Deviation, to your left, please enjoy a very nice poem we have set out for you. Have a Shiny day.
